Though there are no current psychedelic reform initiatives in South Carolina, the state is home to promising psychedelic-focused medical research.

The Medical University of South Carolina is Launching a Psychedelic Research Center
MUSC announced a partnership with MAPS (the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies), a well-known psychedelic advocacy group, to create a psychedelic research center. Slated to open mid-2021, the on-campus facility will conduct clinical trials that study the effectiveness of various psychedelic substances on the treatment of conditions such as PTSD, depression, and anxiety.
