Acute MDMA administration modulates neural and behavioral measures of self-referential processing

MDMA specifically reduces processing of negative self-referential information in the frontal lobe. Effects in the insula are more general, and reductions are seen in both self and other evaluations. This may suggest a potential novel clinical use for MDMA in treating disorders that have a significant negative self-referential component.
